The company dwt-Zelte has been in existence since 1986. Our philosophy: quality that endures – functionality that works – design that convinces.

Nowadays, a strong team of leadership, together with the owners of dwt-Zelte Dieter, Peter and Claus Winneknecht, is responsible for the development of the company. The heart of the company group builds the own production plant in Niesky (Saxony). Here the owners are greatly supported by a motivated team of specialists and degreed engineers: Steffen Schwerdtner and Matthias Wurm.

1986 Foundation of Dieter Winneknecht Textil GmbH (dwt) as a sales company for steep-walled and frame tents

1988 Start of the company’s own development and production of caravan awnings

1991 dwt acquires the production company of Sachsen-Zelte Textil GmbH and starts its own specialist range under the brand of "dwt-Zelte"

2001 Brand relaunch, development of trade support

2002/2003 Extension of sales activities to the rest of Europe

2003 Extension of the production facilities in Niesky

2004 Visit by the Prime Minister of Saxony, Prof. Dr. Georg Milbradt, to Niesky

2005 "Sachsenzelte" is awarded the 8th Lower Silesia Business Prize, and changes its name to "dwt-Zelte Niesky GmbH"

2007 Foundation of the subsidiary "Premium Metallsystems GmbH" as a provider of high quality frames.

2008 dwt receives the "Caravanning Design Award" for its "Curve" awning.

2009 Completion of the building extension for the linkage production.

2011 dwt-Zelte celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Today, these sales of the company group amount to around €13 million, with an export proportion of 30%. The main export destinations include Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Italy, Slovenia and Greece.
